Care For Kids Appeal | 762 Boxes Donated!
Back in June we launched our Care For Kids Appeal, a charitable initiative that aimed to deliver toucanBoxes to vulnerable children in lockdown. For every toucanBox donated by our customers we would match it.
Since then we have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of our customers (we already knew they were brilliant, of course) and have matched every donation they made. We are now delighted to announce that 762 toucanBoxes will be donated!
Lockdown has been a difficult time for all of us. As a team of educators and parents we empathise particularly with the challenge posed to parents and children.
We have been so touched, throughout lockdown, to see our toucanoos and their grown ups making the most of a difficult situation. Our spirits have been lifted to see the incredible crafts and the magical (if slightly messy) memories you’ve been making during this time.
However, everybody's lockdown is different, and for some children lockdown has been an exceptionally challenging time.
Therefore, we were delighted when we had the opportunity to work with the Metropolitan Police and local councils to launch our Care For Kids Appeal. We asked our customers to donate a toucanBox to the cause and matched every box they donated, doubling up efforts to bring a moment of fun to a less fortunate child. The Met Police and council workers kindly offered their services to help distribute our craft boxes to the children who would like to receive them.
We were thrilled by the response to this appeal. 762 toucanBoxes are now winging their way to children in need and, although we know toucanBoxes can’t fix the topsy-turvy situation we find ourselves in, we believe these little gestures can mean an awful lot to a child.
Police Sergeant Mike Proffitt also extended his thanks to toucanBox customers, saying:
"It’s amazing… a lot of children will be entertained and happy! Thanks for all that toucanbox and their customers do!”
Despite a challenging situation we have worked with each other to make a difference, further proof that together we can get through this.
