Pancake Day is the perfect time to get creative in the kitchen with your little ones.
Our pancake portraits show you cool ways to make a portrait using lots of fruit and other yummy toppings, for a fun and healthy Pancake Day treat.
To begin, let’s make the pancakes!
1 Whisk the flour, eggs, milk and oil into a smooth batter.
2 Put a frying pan over a medium heat and put a little oil into the pan. Pour a small amount of batter into the pan so that the base is covered with a thin layer of pancake mix.
3 Cook for 1-2 minutes on both sides.
4 Serve up with some fruity toppings!
Time to decorate! The toucanBox Team made our own fruity pancake portraits to give you some ideas!
Hannah made her big blue eyes with whipped cream and blueberries. She used banana skin for her blond hair (but of course she didn’t eat that bit!). Leo halved a banana to make his mouth, because he has a lovely big smile!
Vasile has black hair, so he used blackberries along the top of his pancake. To recreate her brown hair Fiona used chocolate spread (with sprinkles for her hair clip). Yummy!
Chloe did an awesome job! She used strawberry laces to make her lovely red hair! Then she chopped up some banana and topped them off with chocolate chips for her brown eyes.
Firas made his brown eyes with hazelnuts and Raquel used lemon wedges for her spectacles. Genius!
Why not try making a pancake portrait of someone else? We all had a go at making our grandparent’s portraits. We used grapes, blueberries and lots of whipped cream!
